Precious director Lee Daniels has departed the planned Richard Pryor biopic, which is set up over at The Weinstein Company.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Daniels exited the movie as TWC are ‘said to have declined to wait further for Daniels’ schedule to clear up.’
Mike Epps and Oprah Winfrey as still attached to star in the movie, which is titled Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?, and written by Bill Condon. Pryor was actually involved in the creative process before passing away in 2005.
According to the trade, the film ‘chronicles the life of the groundbreaking comedian, who rose to prominence in the 1970s, enjoying a film and television career before being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.’
The Weinstein Company is now looking for a replacement director for the project.
