First official look at Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien: Covenant’

With the wonderful yesterday already off in the wistful past, Ridley Scott has added another day to the Alien-excitement with this first official look into his upcoming Alien: Covenant, the follow-up to Prometheus.

Personally, I couldn’t stop raving about 2012’s prequel and although seen by some as a little ridiculous in places, I hugely enjoyed the ride, both visually and the discovery of the unknown along with Michael Fassbender‘s Peter O’Toole-loving David. Although some of you may be confused at how many Alien movies are coming our way, this one is Scott’s prequel to his original 1979 masterpiece (This one here is Neill Blomkamp’s) and it will, in the words of the press releases we’ve been handed, have a direct connection to that original.

Below is our first proper look into Alien: Covenant and once you see the image, it’ll make sense and – actually – takes me right back to the beginning, sometimes specific things are very underrated…

Alongside Fassbender, the film stars Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smolett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, and Danny McBride.

It opens up in the UK on 4 August.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Dan loves writing, film, music and photography. Originally from Devon, he did London for 4 years and now resides in Exeter. He also has a mild obsession with squirrels and cake.
