The Blade Runner cast expands again as Knock, Knock actress Ana De Armas joins.
Only a few days ago we brought you the news that the wait for the sequel to Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi classic Blade Runner won’t be as long as you thought. Now word has broken that the cast has just expanded by one extra body as Ana de Armas has joined the project.
Armas was one half of the female duo who took Keanu Reeves hostage in last year’s dark thriller Knock, Knock. She gave a great performance as the highly unstable Bell and effortlessly oozed sex appeal – the perfect qualities for a Daryl Hannah-esque replicant. Her role however, has not yet been revealed.
The young Cuban actress joins the already assembled, very impressive cast of Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista and Robin Wright. Sadly, the sequel won’t be directed by Sir Ridley Scott however, but with Sicario‘s Dennis Villeneuve at the helm we are still expecting great things.
The original film was based on the story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Phillip K Dick, the sequel will follow a brand new path. The Screenplay has been written by Hampton Fancher (who worked on the original) and Michael Green, and is based on an idea by Scott. All we know so far is that the story will pick up several decades after the conclusion of the 2019 set Blade Runner.
Simply known as Blade Runner 2 at the moment, a better name will surely be announced in the future; it is expected to arrive in cinemas on October 6th 2017.
