The Impossible and A Monster Calls director Juan Antonio Bayona is set to helm the sequel to Jurassic World, taking over from Colin Trevorrow.
Trevorrow and Derek Connolly are writing the screenplay for the film, which is already set for a 2018 release. Bayona was attached to direct the sequel to World War Z, but departed that project back last year. He’s been hard at work on A Monster Calls, an adaptation of the novel of the same name, which will be released later this year.
Once that movie is out there, we expect it to be full throttle on Jurassic World 2 ahead of that big summer 2018.
Here’s how the news dropped on social media late yesterday.
