Jungle Book box-office: Disney’s re-do crowned king as the film hits the top spot in the U.K. and the U.S.

Unsurprisingly, Disney’s The Jungle Book has topped the U.K. box-office over the weekend, taking a remarkable $9.5 million in its first three days. More details on the huge Jungle Book box-office takings below.

ln a press release from the studio, the estimated take sees the film become the third biggest opening this year following only Batman vs Superman and Deadpool. The result also sees Disney take both 1st and 2nd place at the UK box office with Disney’s Zootropolis still delighting audiences.

The film also opened well in the north American territory, with an estimated $103.6 million making it the second largest April opening in industry history. Globally the film currently stands at $240 million. In India the film has already overtaken the entire lifetime of Titanic and Life of Pi within just one week and is the third biggest Hollywood release ever, only behind Furious 7 and Jurassic World.

The film has been reviewed quite well everywhere, including here on The Hollywood News. We called it ‘a magnificent adventure that is wonderfully told. A visual marvel throughout, the film captures the magic of Disney’s original movie and through the wonders of modern technology, propels the viewer into a photo-realistic world full of talking animals, scary tigers and yes, singing bears all over again. A wild, roaring, visual wonder that is truly memorable. Go and see it at your earliest opportunity.’

According to a news report last week, Disney are already planning a sequel for the movie, potentially to also be told by the film’s director Jon Favreau, though this is still unconfirmed.
