Doctor Strange trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch leads the last in Marvel Studios’ second big film release of 2016.
Marvel Studios have just dropped the Doctor Strange trailer. The film, released this December, stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role.
Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is absent from the first Doctor Strange trailer, is playing Karl Mordo, Tilda Swinton appears as The Ancient One (she is in the promo), along with Rachel McAdams, who plays a surgeon, Michael Stuhlbarg as rival scientist Nicodemus West, Mads Mikkelsen as a rival magician and Benedict Wong as Wong. Scott Adkins (The Bourne Ultimatum) and Amy Landecker also star in the film, but we couldn’t see them in this Inception-like promo.
The film tells the story of Stephen Strange (aka Doctor Strange), an acclaimed neurosurgeon who uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions after a near-fatal car accident, showing audiences corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never before explored.
We don’t see Cumberbatch in all of his Doctor Strange garb (we got a taste of that on yesterday’s poster debut), but we do get a hint of his American accent, which isn’t that bad. Would we expect anything less from Cumberbatch?
Scott Derrickson is directing Doctor Strange from a script by Jon Spaihts and C. Robert Cargill. Marvel Studios will release the film this coming November 4th, 2016.
Expect more Marvel coverage on the site this week as the studio heads into full-speed ahead promo mode for their upcoming Captain America: Civil War, which heads into U.K. cinemas from 29th April, and U.S. cinemas from May 6th, 2016. That film had its world premiere in Los Angeles last night.
