Beetlejuice 2 is finally happening! After many years in development, Tim Burton has finally confirmed to ShowbizSpy that a sequel to the 1980s favourite is definitely going to happen, and both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are returning.
“The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team,” Burton said. “We have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael. We have the script in hand everything is in place all we need to do now is get ready to start filming.”
Obviously, fantastic news.
The original film was released back in 1988 and quickly became a cult favourite. If need a little reminding of the story, take a look below.
More as we get it.
After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a rambunctious spirit whose “help” quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.
