It looks like Daisy Ridley may have just revealed that the next Star Wars sequel, Star Wars Episode VIII, will take play immediately after The Force Awakens ends. Spoilers for The Force Awakens follow:
Ridley was speaking with MTV on the red carpet for Sunday night’s Oscars, where she discussed shooting the opening scene of the next film.
“Me and Mark [Hamill] have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing. When we went back to Skellig [Michael Island] to do the opening of VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff… It’s such a good story. Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one. Really.”
Part of the Skellig set was recreated at Pinewood Studios as there’s apparently quite a bit of the next film set there.
Does Luke train Rey there? What happens? We can’t control ourselves.
Star Wars Episode VIII is now shooting with Looper’s Rian Johnson at the helm, and will be released on December 15th, 2017.
