May sees the rerun of everyone’s favourite gothic horror series – Penny Dreadful. The show stars Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Billie Piper, Harry Treadaway and is a Victorian-set tale of ghastly creatures and goings on. Several big literary characters including Doctor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and the Wolf-Man feature, and are all embroiled in a dark and interconnecting web of intrigue.
The show started off slow at first, but the second season saw the series gather pace and confidence. The forthcoming third outing looks set to be its best season yet, feast your eyes of the delightfully dark and seductive new trailer.
As well as dealing with the aftermath of the battle with the witches, and Frankenstein’s Lily dilemma, the show will expand to incorporate the dual persona of Mr Jekkyl and Mr Hyde. This will no doubt result in sinister twists and devilish revelations.
In addition to the trailer, the first poster has also been released. Due to some very clever design the image can be viewed in two ways. the first is of a man cradling himself, the second is a rather ominous skull.
Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime in the US on 1st May. UK viewers have a slightly longer wait, with the series returning to Sky Atlantic on 3rd May at 9pm.
