WATCH: Pee-wee’s next big adventure!

He last entertained movie audiences in 1988 with Big Top Pee-wee. Since then fans despaired they’d never see Pee-wee Herman in a comedy vehicle again. That was until Judd Apatow and Netflix stepped in, and now the boy who never grew up is back in the all-new Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. Check out the trailer below…!

Despite pushing pensionable age the bow-tied wonder looks to be present and correct in a wild ride featuring garish grannies, girl gangs and a whistlestop tour of manic proportions as Pee-wee enjoys a break from his already madcap existence in Fairville USA.

Created by Paul Reubens, the character first hit the silver screen in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, the directorial debut of one Tim Burton, where he famously lost his bike. He went on to have a smash hit kids’ TV show that co-starred Laurence Fishburne amongst others.

Whether modern viewers will take to the character or if Reubens has the energy to make Herman fly again is a matter for the streaming service’s many subscribers. Nevertheless, Pee-wee is hitting the twenty-first century with a big helping of Americana-inspired fun. It’s released next month.

Steve is a journalist and comedian who enjoys American movies of the 70s, Amicus horror compendiums, Doctor Who, Twin Peaks, Naomi Watts and sitting down. His short fiction has been published as part of the Iris Wildthyme range from Obverse Books.
