Through the Eye of a Mask: From the Red Carpet to the arms of John Boyega

The British Academy Film and Television Awards, or the Bafta’s as they are more commonly known as, are sponsored by phone network EE. This partnership meant that last night’s red carpet had a technological edge that some of the rival awards ceremonies just don’t have. In addition to Hollywood’s finest, the red carpet was also home to several of EE’s new 4GEE Capture Camera’s. The new tech is essentially a Go Pro style camera that you can use for live streaming. To demonstrate how inventive you can be with the new camera, the Bafta team decided to show the journey of one of its masks, namely the EE Rising Star Award, by attaching a camera behind the mask’s eye.

The award was won by John Boyega, but in the below video you can witness its trip along the red carpet, its wait back stage (which includes an extra clean by last year’s winner Jack O’Connell) into the waiting arms of Boyega. The video also features a sneaky peak at what he had to say as he left the stage.
