The Top 3 Anticipated TV Series’ Of 2016

2016 is looking like quite the year for both television and movies. In terms of film we have the likes of of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice due in just a matter of weeks, and then the first Marvel movie of 2016 in Captain America: Civil War. Aside from the superhero movies, there’s a sequel to Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, which hits later this summer, and then completely original movies in next week’s Triple 9, and the Coen brothers’ Hail Caesar, both of which open later this month. While we sit and wait for those movies, and the the 200+ other flicks due in 2016, let’s turn our attention to the small screen, and our top three anticipated TV shows to hit UK TV this year.

Better Call Saul – Season 2

Breaking Bad spanned multiple series, and it was one of those that had us, quite literally, watching episode and after episode, binge-watching season after season and polishing off the entire six-seasons in a matter of weeks. Well, if you weren’t aware, Netflix have delivered a prequel series, Better Call Saul, to the show, which revolves around the character of Saul Goodman, the sleazy lawyer from Breaking Bad. There’s already an entire season available for your viewing pleasure on the streaming service, but later this month, Netflix deliver season two of the show, drip-fed week by week – so no binge-watching for you all this time. The series stars Bob Odenkirk as the title character, and its all set many years before the days of Walter White and his blooming crack business. The new season starts to air from February 15th,

Westworld

This upcoming TV series comes to the screen from HBO, the US cable company that bring us Game Of Thrones. The debut season of the show is due later this year, and is based on the original novel by Michael Crichton, which was previously turned into a film in the early seventies. This new version is brought to the screen by Jonathan Nolan (Christopher’s brother), and stars Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton and Anthony Hopkins. It is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. It tells the story of a futuristic theme park called Westworld, and we’re expecting this summer.

One of the best original TV series’ to have come out of the Showtime stable, Ray Donovan features an all-star cast led by Liev Schrieber in the title role. Supported by the likes of Jon Voight, Eddie Marsden and Steven Bauer, Schriber devlivers a knockout performance as Donovan, an LA fixer; a person who arranges for bribes or payoffs of corrupt police or government officials. With his father Mickey (Voight) forever causing more problems for Donovan, and the FBI on his tale, Ray Donovan continues to prove that its one of the best shows on TV. A fourth season is set to debut this summer.
