Who’s expected at the EE British Academy Film Awards 2016? Full list here!

ee-baftaWe definitely hit the movie awards season deep in the heart this weekend because the EE British Academy Film Awards 2016 are here and it really shows us that, in London, we put on a classy show at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. In the past few years the respect for the BAFTAs has continued to grow and grow across the world because, frankly, we seem to pick the right winners. Is that Oscar fighting talk? I think so.

Once again hosted by the multi-rambling and intelligently talented Stephen Fry, the ceremony will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD at 21.00 this Sunday 14 February. The Hollywood News, or call us THN if you fancy it, will be there bringing you as much as we viably can so keep track over on our dedicated Twitter feed.

But I think you’re here for this attendees? So… Nominees confirmed to date include (in alphabetical order): Aaron Sorkin, Adam McKay, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Alex Garland, Alicia Vikander, Asif Kapadia, Bel Powley, Benicio Del Toro, Bryan Cranston, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Dakota Johnson, Eddie Redmayne, Idris Elba, John Boyega, Julie Walters, Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Maggie Smith, Mark Ruffalo, Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender, Rooney Mara, Saoirse Ronan, Steven Spielberg, Taron Egerton, Todd Haynes and Tom Hooper.

Presenters and other attendees confirmed to date include (in alphabetical order): Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Angela Bassett, Domhnall Gleeson, Cuba Gooding Jr, Douglas Booth, Emilia Clarke, Jack O’Connell, Julianne Moore, Matt Smith, Rebel Wilson, Riz Ahmed, Sacha Baron Cohen, Stanley Tucci, Will Poulter and Sonoya Mizuno.

Also, as previously announced, Angels Costumes is to receive the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award and Sir Sidney Poitier is to be honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship. The Award will be collected by Tim Angel OBE, because Sir Sidney will be unable to make the trip to London to receive his Fellowship in person because his health advisors recommend he refrain from transatlantic travel at this time.
