Having been raised in Nottingham, this writer has spent most of her life surrounded by all things Robin Hood. He and his band of Merry Men have a reputation for stealing from the rich to give to the poor. This behaviour was said to have caused more than a little trouble for the Sheriff of Nottingham in the 16th century.
It’s a story hook that has enchanted Hollywood forever, and the hooded hero has been played by a multitude of actors including Errol Flynn, Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner. It seems that right now the character has taken somewhat on a strangle-hold on the industry as today news has broken that a third Robin Hood themed project in is the works.
Disney are continuing their current trend of turning their animated classics into live action versions with a new Robin Hood tale, Nottingham and Hood. Lionsgate are also working on an origins story, Robin Hood: Origins which will star Kingsman‘s Taron Egerton.
If that wasn’t enough for you the team behind 300 have thrown their hat into the ring with a futuristic spin on the character. The new project, which has the working title of Robin Hood 2058, will be set in a “dystopian London with a rogue MI5 agent on a mission to avenge injustice.”
