The Star Wars The Force Awakens DVD release date (and Blu-Ray) has finally been revealed. The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have stated that the hugely successful Star Wars sequel will hit the home entertainment market on April 5th, 2016. As far as we can tell, this is for the U.S. market, but we’re sure that Disney will knock this out day and date across the planet. Amazon have also confirmed the news to subscribers and on their website, who state that pre-orders will be fulfilled by the above date. The expected price of the Blu-Ray will be $19.99.
The film is still playing in cinemas across the world, with the film intent on bagging the all-time worldwide number one spot, but news of the Star Wars The Force Awakens DVD release is sure to delight fans. No further details of any special features have been revealed, but we’re hoping for some juicy deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes stuff from the J.J. Abrams directed box-office behemoth.
Set thirty years after the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens picks up the story of a galaxy turned upside-down with the deposition of the evil Empire and the rise of the Rebel Alliance to take its place. With the cruel First Order rising to fill the void left by the Empire’s destruction and the Resistance dedicated to eradicating their influence, heroes Finn and Rey will need to stop the villainous Kylo Ren and the First Order from assuming total control of the galaxy, with the help of old heroes Han Solo and Leia Organa.
