We posted an article at the weekend that alluded to the fact that Tristar were planning a reboot of Labyrinth. Well, the film’s screenwriter, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman has spoken out and said the film won’t be a remake at all. She spoke via Twitter.
“Not ‘rebooting’ anything, guys. No one is remaking Labyrinth. That movie is perfect as it is… Labyrinth is my favorite film from childhood, so I share your concerns that any continuation of the world be handled with love and respect.”
This seems like terrible timing, but it seems that Tristar are planning a remake/ sequel of the classic 1980s Jim Henson movie Labyrinth, which starred Jennifer Connelly and the late David Bowie.
The studio haven’t said whether the new movie will be a remake or a sequel, but it is definitely happening with Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman penning the screenplay.
The original movie was written by Terry Jones and revolved around the character of Sarah (Connelly), who travels to mystical land after accidentally offering up her brother to the Goblin King Jareth (Bowie). The good news is that Henson’s dughter Lisa is producing the planned redo/ sequel for Tristar.
How are we all feeling about this news? We can probably guess.
