We reported this a little while ago, but now it has been confirmed that Tom Cruise has officially signed on the dotted line to appear in Universal’s The Mummy reboot. Kingsman: The Secret Service’s Sofia Boutella is also on board the project, which will be released in 2017.
The film will be the first in a series of new monster movies that will create a new ‘Monsters’ universe for the studio. Films featuring Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman etc. are expected in the years to come.
Alex Kurtzman will direct the film for the studio, and it has a release date set for the 9th June, 2017. Shooting kicks off later this year…
Cruise will next be seen in Doug Liman’s Mena, and is currently shooting Jack Reacher: Never Go Back in New Orleans. He is then expected to start filming the next instalment in the Mission: Impossible series this summer, before heading to The Mummy.
More news as we get it.
