Last years Jessica Jones continued Netflix’s streak of delivering engaging, character-driven Marvel content exclusively aimed at an adult audience.
The show succeeded in expanding both the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the smaller superhero world being established in New York city. With Daredevil Season 2 premiering in less than two months, audiences were beginning to wonder whether or not Jessica Jones would also be returning before the upcoming Defenders mini event.
Well, now fans of Krysten Ritter‘s traumatized P.I. can rejoice with the news that she will be returning for second season! Check out the announcement made via the shows official twitter below:
Recently leaked ratings of Netflix’ original programming revealed that last year Jessica Jones was the highest rated series for the online streaming service. The show supposedly drew in an average of 4.8 million viewers per episode, which by comparison completely dwarfs any other comic book show on network television (other than The Walking Dead of course).
Whether these ratings are to be believed or not, many would be hard-pressed to fault the near-flawless superhero drama. Jessica Jones was undoubtedly a tremendous success for Marvel, Netflix, comic book adaptations and (crucially) female superheroes. Thankfully now we can start getting excited for even more where that came from.
It’s currently unknown when season 2 will premiere, but we’ll update you with any more news as we get it!
