Well this one came from nowhere. It appears that a Cloverfield sequel is not only happening, but it has already been filmed. The apparent secret project had a trailer delivered to U.S. cinemas where it is now playing. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher, Jr. and is officially titled 10 Cloverfield Lane, and it will apparently be a blood relative to Matt Reeves’ 2008 original.
Producer JJ Abrams released the following in an official statement:
“The idea came up a long time ago during production,” J.J. Abrams said. “We wanted to make it a blood relative of ‘Cloverfield’. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.”
An official website is also revealed in the press release for www.10cloverfieldlane.com, but is currently returning a bad request.
The film has a release date not too far away on March 11th (North America). We’ve just seen that a bootleg of the teaser trailer has now come online. We’d never post bootlegs on the site ever, but we’re hearing through the Hollywood grapevine that this could very be a viral release, though this hasn’t been confirmed by Paramount Pictures.
Updated: The official UK trailer has been released, along with the the UK release date, which will be the 8th April, 2016.
