It seems that this has been a sad week for fans of both Music and Film. Unfortunately, earlier today legendary actor Alan Rickman passed away at the age of 69.
After battling with cancer for some time, the British national treasure was reportedly surrounded by friends and family at the time of his death. This is absolutely devastating news and a truly tragic loss for millions across the globe.
Not only was Rickman a wonderfully talented actor, but he was also one of the most diverse in the entire world. After making his Hollywood debut as the brilliantly menacing Hans Gruber in the original Die Hard, Rickman exploded into the film industry in a career spanning almost three decades.
He went on to play a variety of highly acclaimed roles in some of the most popular films of all time, such as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Dogma, Love Actually, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland and of course the Harry Potter franchise as Severus Snape.
Last year he directed his second feature film with the period drama A little Chaos starring both himself and Kate Winslet. Rickman’s final film appearance will be as Absolem, the Caterpillar in the upcoming sequel Alice Through The Looking Glass.
You can see some of Rickman’s best and most well known performances below.
From everyone here at THN, our hearts go out to Rickman’s family and friends. A sad goodbye to one of the greatest actors of our time.
R.I.P. Alan Rickman.
