The British cinema-going public will finally get a chance to see Ryan Coogler‘s Creed in theaters this weekend. North American audiences were luckily enough to get the film back in October, and with $100 million in the bank on domestic soil, a sequel is already being talked about.
Well, not just talked about. According to Playlist, Warner Brothers are aiming for a November 2017 release date for Creed 2, which would immediately see director and co-writer Ryan Coogler not return as director as he’s on the cusp of taking the helming gig on Marvel’s Black Panther. The superhero flick, which will be lead by Chadwick Boseman, hits cinemas in February 2018. Coogler will more than likely produce the film, which will follow Michael B. Jordan‘s title character.
We’re hearing that Carl Weathers’ Apollo Creed could also make an appearance, alongside Golden Globe winner Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa. A retro story in the vein of The Godfather Paty II is being courted, which we reported just this past week.
Creed opens in UK cinemas from Friday. Look out for our review on the site later this week.
