Rock legend, actor and cultural icon David Bowie has died at the age of 69. The star had apparently been battling cancer for 18 months.
News of his death has, of course, shocked the world. The artist only released his last album, BlackStar, just days ago on his birthday, January 7th. The 25th studio album immediately topped charts around the world and gained universal acclaim.

Bowie shot to fame in 1969 with the superb Space Oddity, and then further hits that included Let’s Dance, Starman, Modern Love, Heroes, Under Pressure, Rebel, Rebel and Life on Mars. He was also an acclaimed actor, and over the years appeared in the likes of The Man Who Fell to Earth, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Hunger, Labyrinth, The Last Temptation of Christ, Absolute Beginners, Basquiat, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, B.U.S.T.E.D., August and The Prestige.
Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, the successful director of films like Moon and Source Code, also confirmed the news via Twitter early on Monday morning.
