There will be a Deadwood movie. Apparently. Sources have told TV Line that a Deadwood film may be in the works after HBO’s programming president Michael Lombardo said “it’s going to happen,” to journalists at the Television Critics Association’s press tour party in California this week.
Lombardo said that series creator David Milch has apparently pitched a story for a film version of the filthy western which starred Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane.
McShane will appear in HBO’s next season of Game Of Thrones, and enjoyed success last summer on the Showtime series Ray Donovan.
Deadwood ran for three seasons and 36 episodes from 2004 to 2006 on the US cable channel. It managed to grab a huge following but the show ended suddenly in ’06. It managed to score multiple Emmy awards, a Peabody and two Golden Globes, including one for McShane.
More news on the potential Deadwood movie as we get it.
