The first images from Ron Howard‘s Inferno film adaptation of Dan Brown‘s novel from his Robert Langdon series have been released. Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones lead the cast of the Inferno film, which will heading to cinemas in 2016.
Howard, a keen Twitter user, has been keeping us up to date with many set images throughout production, but these are the first official Inferno film images to hit the web.
Inferno follows Brown’s first two books to be adapted into movies; The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, both of which were also directed by Howard. Brown’s Inferno was first published in 2013.
Here’s the plot.
Robert Langdon awakens in a hospital room in Florence, Italy, with no memory as to what has transpired over the last few days. He suddenly finds himself, again, the target of a major manhunt. But with the help of Dr. Sienna Brooks, and his knowledge of symbology, Langdon will try to regain his freedom, and lost memories, all whilst solving the most intricate riddle he’s ever faced.
Shooting on the Inferno film took place in Venice and Florence, Italy from April of 2015, and wrapped back in July, and Sony are eyeing a October 14, 2016. The film was actually set to hit cinemas back this week, but the studio reportedly put it back by nearly a year due to clashing with the mighty Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Omar Sy, Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan and Sidse Babett Knudsen are also in the Inferno film which is actually the fourth book in Brown’s Robert Langdon series.Despite mixed reviews for the last in the series, Angels & Demons, the film’s have proven to be popular.
Howard’s latest film, In The Heart Of The Sea, hits UK screens this week to mainly positive reviews.
Inferno was adapted by David Koepp. Check out the rest of the images below.
