Guy RItchie’s King Arthur movie has been moved to 2017.

This is somewhat disappointing. Guy Ritchie‘s King Arthur movie has been pushed back nearly eight months from the summer of 2016, to February 2017. The planned film, which is led by Sons Of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, was set to screen in US cinemas on July 22, 2016 , but now Warner Bros. have tactically moved it to February 17, 2017. The reason has nothing to do with faith in the project at all, as the studio believes that the film will do better in a winter slot, very much like Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service did this year.

So, does Ritchie King Arthur movie, officially title King Arthur: Knights Of The Round Table have a similar vibe to Kingsman?

The film stars Jude Law, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, Katie McGrath, Djimon Hounsou, Eric Bana, Mikael Persbrandt, and Annabelle Wallis, and is said to be the first film of a planned six-film series. Wow. The studio has tons of faith in Ritchie, and rightly so – let’s not forget how well he did with his Sherlock Holmes movies for them.

Here’s the synopsis for King Arthur: Knights Of The Round Table.

The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londinium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur—and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.

Look out for it on screens in about 14 months time.
