New ‘Twin Peaks’ teaser puts the mist in mystery

Showtime’s Twin Peaks teasers previously recycled old footage from the offbeat soap opera fans know and love. But now it’s time for the excitement level to kick up a few gears with the release of a spanking new glimpse at the revived series…

Using an upscale documentary-style format, the film interviews actor Michael Horse, famous for playing the character of Deputy Hawk. Hawk was truly at one with the scenery of Twin Peaks but it’s unclear whether the man waxing lyrical about it here is the performer or his part.

Aerial footage revisits the show’s classic opening titles, with sights such as plunging waterfalls and of course those excessively misty mountains. And as a fan I got a shiver down my spine when a freshly-painted town sign was unveiled.

Billed as airing in 2017, the production revisits the tangled, surreal and terrifying world that co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost left behind in 1991. Yes, Star Wars isn’t the only story that’s getting picked up over a quarter of a century later!  Lynch and Frost have written all the upcoming episodes, with Lynch directing.

As the intrusive social media age collides with the shoot, Lynch has asked snoopers not to reveal Season 3’s secrets. Fat chance of that, but at least this elegant snippet brings us an idea of the lush mystery that awaits viewers on Twin Peaks‘ return.
