We caught Ben Wheatley‘s High-Rise at this year’s London Film Festival, and it is is certainly a film that split everyone in the critics screening that we were lucky enough to attend. The film will see the light of day in 2016, so everyone will be able to make up their own minds on Wheatley’s adaptation of the J.G. Ballard source material.
StudioCanal, who will release the film in the UK, have just debuted an international trailer/ viral video for the film, which you can watch in the player below.
Voiced by the film’s leading man Tom Hiddleston, the promo also reveals a viral website at www.anthonyroyalarchitecture.co.uk, a url that points to a website for the tower block in which Hiddleston’s Dr. Robert Laing’s lives in the movie. Clearly a marketing tool, the site features all sorts of gems which ultimately just end up pointing to the film’s official Twitter feed. Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, James Purefoy, Reece Shearsmith, Peter Ferdinando and Dan Renton Skinner also star in High-Rise.
Check out the viral website ut at the end of the link above, and the new video, which is one of our first looks at the film, below.
High-Rise opens in the UK on March 18th, 2016. It is still awaiting a US street date.

A big screen adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s novel “High-Rise.” “High-Rise” centers on a new residential tower built on the eve of Margaret Thatcher’s rise to power, at the site of what will soon become the world’s financial hub. Designed as a luxurious solution to the problems of the city, it is a world apart. Enter Robert Laing (Hiddleston), a young doctor seduced by the high-rise and its creator, the visionary architect Anthony Royal (Irons). Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royal’s devoted aide Charlotte (Miller). But rot has set in beneath the flawless surface. Sensing discord amongst the tenants, Laing meets Wilder, a charismatic provocateur bent on inciting the situation. Wilder initiates Laing into the hidden life of the high-rise and Laing is shocked at what he sees. As the residents break into tribal factions, Laing finds himself in the middle of mounting violence. Violence that he also finds emerging in himself.
