Lucasfilm’s president Kathleen Kennedy is dashing around the world at the moment promoting the company’s new big release, which of course is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but thoughts are already turning to their other big franchise, Indiana Jones.
There have been tons of rumours with Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg commenting on plans but nothing really has been set in stone. Well, Kennedy spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about those plans and had the following to say.
“We’re all trying to figure out when the right time is to step back in”, she said.
“Harrison really wants to do it, Steven really wants to do it. We’ve kicked around a couple of story ideas, but beyond that, I don’t know yet”.
“I think there will be one”, Kennedy added. “We’ll certainly move forward with Indy. But right now, everybody’s just focused on Star Wars”.
The difficult task that Lucasfilm have is pushing the franchise forward, but also potentially developing things for further down the line – after all, Ford is now 73.
We’ll update you on this when we can.
