We guessed that Sony may take the fourth instalment in the Men In Black series to a very different place, and we weren’t wrong as it has been revealed that Men In Black 4 will in fact be led by a female character.
Speaking with the BBC, producer Laurie McDonald had the following to say:
“There will be a prominent woman in black in the fourth [film].”
So prominent doesn’t necessarily mean lead, we know, but this is great news for the franchise.
Co-producer Walter Parkes, who worked on the original series also said we could see a return for Will Smith too. “Never count Will out,” Parkes said to Newsbeat.
“We are quite early on in it,” he said. “We sort of looked at the first three in retrospect as a bit of a trilogy. Now we are looking at a reinvention,” Parkes added. “But it’s a wonderful world to get back into.”
Men In Black was originally released in 1997 with a sequel in 2002. MIB3 was the most recent movie, debuting in 2012 with Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin also starring alongside Smith. More news on Men In Black 4 as we get it.
