Kevin Bacon is to return to his movie roots for a new TV series based on one of his early movies, Tremors.
The planned series, which Bacon will also executive produce, is being produced by Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions, and is currently being shopped around to some very interested networks.
Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross, and Reba McEntire starred in the original movie, which revolved around the natives of a small isolated town who have to defend themselves against strange underground creatures which are killing them one by one.
Bacon starred as Valentine McKee, a role he will reprise in the planned series.
Tremors was released in 1990, and was followed by no less than four direct-to-video sequels – Tremors 2: Aftershocks; Tremors 3: Back to Perfection; a series prequel, Tremors 4: The Legend Begins; and finally Tremors 5: Bloodlines, none of which Bacon appeared in. There was also a short-lived TV series back in 2003, again sans Bacon.
More news on the series as we get it. Here’s a little reminder of what has come before.
