We posted this late last night on our Twitter feed, but we thought we’d share it with you here on the main site too. We posted early yesterday morning that Ridley Scott had mentioned that the Prometheus 2 project is now called Alien: Covenant. Well, that appears to be true as 20th Century Fox reveal the full title treatment, synopsis and release date.
First the title treatment, followed by the rest.
As you can see, it’s pretty basic, but does throw back to Scott’s 1970’s original, and we love it! Here’s the synopsis.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
So, the official release date for Alien: Covenant is October 6th, 2017! Mark your calendars!
More news on this as we get it.
