Quentin Tarantino documentary on the cards for 2016. The film will be a retrospective of his career so far.
A Quentin Tarantino documentary is in the works. The feature documentary will be called 21 Years: Quentin Tarantino, and will be a retrospective of the first 21 years of the filmmaker’s career.
According to Variety, the documentary will feature interviews with frequent Tarantino collaborators, including Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu, Zoë Bell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jamie Foxx, Eli Roth, Robert Forster, Diane Kruger, Michael Madsen and Kerry Washington.
Tara Wood will direct the Quentin Tarantino documentary which follows her work on last year’s similarly themed 21 Years: Richard Linklater, which focussed on the US director of films like Slacker, Before Sunrise and Boyhood.
“Quentin is the most revolutionary, distinctive director of our time,” said Wood to the trade. “There is no shortage of stories from his collaborators about what it takes to get his visionary style to the screen. It has been an enlightening process both personally and professionally.”
Tarantino exploded on the film stage in 1992 with the brilliant Reservoir Dogs, before following that up with the superior Pulp Fiction, for which he won his first Academy Award. Films like Jackie Brown, Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained and the Kill Bill movies followed. His eighth movie, The Hateful Eight debuts in cinemas across America on Christmas Day before making its UK bow in January.
The Hateful Eight revolves around bounty hunter John “The Hangman” Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who encounter another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) and a man (Walton Goggins) who claims to be a sheriff. Hoping to find shelter from a blizzard, the group travels to a stagecoach stopover located on a mountain pass. But, after encountering four strangers, they may not make it to their destination. The final trailer for The Hateful Eight recently debuted, and it has been reported this week that it could run for over three hours.
21 Years: Quentin Tarantino is currently up for sales at the AFM (American Film Market).
