Ben Affleck Batman movie still without director, but the actor/ director apparently wants to do it.
There are just a couple of months to go until we see the Ben Affleck Batman in the Warner Bros. movie Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, but thoughts are already looking further into the DC universe. Rumours have been splattered across the web stating that Ben Affleck could potentially direct the first stand-alone new Batman film, with him starring. But is he up for it?
The actor/ writer/ director answered that question in Total Film.
“Look, if I could make it work, yeah,” Affleck said.
“Obviously that would be like a dream,” he added. “The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you – if you’re going to direct it – that you can make it good. You’ve got to have the right idea and the right take on it. Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea.”
Producer Charles Roven weighed in on this topic, too, mentioning that Affleck is “about to start a movie now, and he’s also got obligations to be in the Justice League movies. The calendar is a little bit tricky.”
I think it’s safe to assume that we’d all like to see a Ben Affleck Batman movie, with him as director too, especially after his turns on The Town and especially Argo a couple of years ago. It seems that producer Charles Roven is also up for it, but it seems that we’re a way off from a decision being made any time soon. He also spoke with the magazine.
“Of course, the script obviously has to be worthy of him wanting to direct it. And once that happens, it’s still got to fit into the calendar. We’re hoping we can make it happen. We’re just at the beginning of the question.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will be released in March. Ben Affleck’s Batman movie, The Batman, which is what the first stand-alone Batman movie is being referred to, is set for 2018.
