The Broadway production of Disney’s Aladdin is set to come to the London stage next year. The news was officially confirmed today that the hit musical, which has been seen by over 1 million people in New York, will debut at the Prince Edward Theatre in the capital on the 9th June, 2016.
Trevor Dion Nicholas will play the Genie in the musical, a role made famous by the late, great Robin Williams. Nicholas is currently the stand-in Genie for the Broadway production, and will make his West-End debut with the 2016 transfer.
The musical features all of the classic songs from the 1992 movie, including ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘Friend Like Me’, as well as new music by the Oscar-winning Alan Menken.
The Broadway production (pictured), was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The Prince Edward Theatre is currently staging the Miss Saigon revival, which will come to an end in February.
