Sneek peak at Goosebumps via new clip, Mantis Chase…
Coming to cinemas in 2016 is the big-screen adventure Goosebumps, based on the books of the same name. While the film doesn’t hit cinemas in the UK until next year, it will, weirdly, show up at next month’s London Film Festival, where we’re hoping to take a look at it.
We have a sneak peek at Goosebumps, which is led by Jack Black, via the new clip below, but first, here’s a recap of the film’s synopsis.
Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.
Rob Letterman directs Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Ryan Lee and Jillian Bell in the film, based on the series of novels by American author R. L. Stine.
Goosebumps officially opens in the US on the 16th October, and the UK in the distant future on the 5th February – which seems ages away. No idea why Sony have split the release dates so far. LFF audience can catch in on the 17th October. We’ll have a full review ready for you as soon as we possibly can.
Check out the clip, titled ‘Mantis Chase,’ below.
