Bryan Singer has revealed that his next project will be 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. The X-Men director revealed the news himself on Instagram.
Rick Sordelet and Dan Studney have written the script for the planned film, based on the story they created with Singer. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea was written by Jules Verne in 1970, and tells the story of three guests on board the Nautilus, a submarine whose capabilities match the torment of its captain; Captain Nemo.
Hollywood has been trying to bring a 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea movie to screens for quite a while now, and everyone from David Fincher to Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) has been attached to direct.
He said the following on his Instagram post, which we’ve published below:
It’s my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film. A story I’ve wanted to retell since childhood. I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart. Not abandoning the #xmen universe. Very excited about #xmenapocalypse and beyond. #julesverne #20000leaguesunderthesea #nemo
It looks like Singer will get his shot at the film once he finishes up work on his latest X-Men adventure – X-Men: Apocalypse, which will release next year. What’s interesting about that post above, is that it seems that he hasn’t ruled out doing more X-Men.
More news as we get it.
