We’ve just posted our interview with Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick and Simon Farnaby for the excellent Bill, and now here’s our chat with the co-writers, and indeed co-stars of the piece, the supremely talented Ben Willbond and Laurence Rickard. These two, who are also almunis from the Horrible Histories series, appear in the film as King Phillip II of Spain and Sir Francis Walsingham respectively.
Bill is set during Shakespeare’s “lost years” where he moves from obscurity in Stratford-upon-Avon to fame as a playwright in London. The film tells the ‘real story’ of what happens when hopeless lute player Bill Shakespeare leaves his family and home to follow his dream. It’s a tale of murderous kings, spies, lost loves, and a plot to blow up Queen Elizabeth I.
Watch the interview with Ben and Laurence below. Bill is in UK cinemas from Friday 18th September, 2015.
