The British public have once again come out in force, this time to name their favourite comic book characters. The poll of 1,200 people across the UK was conducted by Best Offers Bingo, and it may as a surprise that Superman topped the poll with a staggering 298 votes. However in a close second place with 266 votes was Batman. The two characters feature in next year’s big movie, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which director Zack Snyder has admitted has more Batman in it that Superman.

The first Marvel character on the list is Spider-Man, who swings into the number three position with 157 votes, closely followed by Wolverine from the X-Men series. Wonder Woman is the first female character in the poll with 93 votes at number five, while Iron Man, arguably the most popular of the movie comic-book characters, who has appeared in no less than three successful stand-alone films, only got 68 votes out of the 1,200 people surveyed.

Surprisingly, there is also no sign of Thor or Captain America, two characters that have had hugely popular movies released in the last couple of years.
