Josh Gad is said to be in the final stages of negoiations to play the legendary film critic Roger Ebert in a new new movie. Gad, who was last seen in the terrible Pixels, will star opposite Will Ferrell, who plays director Russ Meyer, in Russ & Roger.
Russ & Roger is said to be “a debaucherous comedy centering on two outsiders who defied the Hollywood establishment and made one of the first X-rated films ever released by a major movie studio, having the party of a lifetime in the process.”
Ebert wrote the very controversial 1970s movie Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, which was directed by Meyer. The film was made for around $900,000 back in 1970, and has since grossed around $40 million around the world, despite its original X-rating.
British director Michael Winterbottom, who has already brought the likes of the controversial 9 Lives and 24 Hour Party People to the screen, will helm the new film.
