Starting its preview run at the Adelphi Theatre in London from this Friday, 21st August is the new musical Kinky Boots, and to tie in with that, we have an exclusive look behind-the-scenes at rehearsals for the show in a brand new featurette.

Kinky Boots: The Musical which music and lyrics by Tony, Emmy and Grammy-winner Cyndi Lauper and a book by legendary Tony-winner Harvey Fierstein, has already had a hugely successful run on Broadway, where it opened in 2013. Transferring to the West End this year, the UK production stars Killian Donnelly and Matt Henry in the two leads as Charlie and Lola respectively, with other cast members including Amy Lennox as Lauren, Amy Ross as Nicola, Jamie Baughan as Don, and Michael Hobbs as George.
Kinky Boots: The Musical is based on the 2005 movie screenplay by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth. The story is about a struggling shoe factory in Northampton, and the young Charlie who inherits the business from his late father. Charlie forms an unlikely bond with Lola, a drag queen from London, who struggles to find glamorous (but strong) shoes to perform in. Together Charlie and Lola design and make custom shoes for drag queens in an attempt to breathe new life in to the factory, but not everyone welcomes the change.
The original movie featured a now well-known cast, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, who played Lola in the film, Joel Edgerton (as Charlie), Sarah-Jane Potts, Kellie Bright and Nick Frost.
The musical adaptation earned a season-high 13 nominations and 6 Tony wins, including Best Musical and Best Score for Cyndia Lauper. Londoners and visiting fans to the capital will surely lap this up. Can’t wait.
