Following on from turns in The Other Guys and other such buddy-cop movies, Mark Wahlberg is to star in another buddy-cop movie. The actor will star in the big-budget actioner Partners, though this time the twist is that he will be all partnered up with a female, in a film that is set to borrow a lot from films like Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Deadline reports that Wahlberg will play an LAPD detective who falls for a beautiful woman after a one-night stand. Then he learns she is an FBI agent and his new boss on a high profile case. The trade blog says that we can expect big action set pieces and lots of explosions.
A director is currently being sought for the movie, as well as a high-profile actress to play the female lead.
The project is set up at New Line. Wahlberg will next be seen in Daddy’s Home opposite Will Ferrell, which opens Stateside on Christmas Day.
