Setting the boards on fire over on Broadway at the moment is the sensational hip-hop musical Hamilton. Hamilton gained some great reviews over the weekend, with The Wall Street Journal calling it a ‘Star-Spangled success.’ It now looks like the show may be headed to the West End in the future, according to the show’s creator.

Inspired by the biography Alexander Hamilton, by Ron Chernow, Hamilton is now playing at the Richard Rodgers Theater. The musical tells the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton in quite the unique way.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Lin-Manuel Miranda takes the stage as the unlikely founding father determined to make his mark on the new nation as hungry and ambitious as he is. From bastard orphan to Washington’s right hand man, rebel to war hero, a loving husband caught in the country’s first sex scandal, to the Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy. George Washington, Eliza Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson and Hamilton’s lifelong friend/foil Aaron Burr all make their mark in this astonishing new musical exploration of a political mastermind.

The London Evening Standard reports that the show’s creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda is looking to relocate in then near future: “We’re hoping it will happen sooner rather than later. My wife is always trying to get me to other countries so I would be honoured to open the show in London.”

We’ll bring you more new as we get it, but here’s some more feedback from the reviews of this sure-to-be-a-West-End-hit show.

“Yes, it really is that good. At this point, it would be almost a relief to report that “Hamilton” — the musical that opened at the Richard Rodgers Theater on Thursday night — has shrunk beneath the bloat of its hype. The New York Times.

“I love Hamilton. I love it like I love New York, or Broadway when it gets it right. And this is so right. A sublime conjunction of radio-ready hip-hop (as well as R&B, Britpop and trad showstoppers), under-dramatized American history and Miranda’s uniquely personal focus as a son of immigrants and as an inexhaustible wordsmith, Hamilton hits multilevel culture buttons, hard. No wonder the show was anointed a sensation before even opening.” Time Out New York.

“With “Hamilton,” Broadway is officially the coolest place on the planet. And the smartest. And most exhilarating. Yes, composer, lyricist, author and leading man Lin-Manuel Miranda’s magical musical tour of the life of the “10-dollar Founding Father,” Alexander Hamilton, is that great. New York Daily News.
