American Idiot, Green Day’s musical will now run until November 22nd at The Arts Theatre in the West End.
The Green Day musical American Idiot has had its London West End run extended due to phenomenal demand. The show, which is at The Arts Theatre just off Leicester Square, was originally taking bookings September, but will now be playing at the venue until the 22nd November.
American Idiot revolves around three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world. The Broadway hit, which had previously toured the UK, features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer.
American Idiot opened on the 17th July at The Arts Theatre, Leicester Square, starring X-Factor finalist Amelia Lily and Loserville star Aaron Sidwell.
The musical features the tracks Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Holiday and the blockbuster title track American Idiot from Green Day’s 2004 Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album. Also included are several songs from Green Day’s 2009 release 21st Century Breakdown, and an unreleased love song, When It’s Time.
The producers of the show said the following through an official release:
“We have been overawed by the unbelievable response from audiences and are thrilled to be extending our stay at the Arts Theatre. We look forward to welcoming more members to join our Idiot Nation!”
