Hollywood superstar Will Smith has joined the cast of Collateral Beauty, replacing Hugh Jackman who left the project last month due to scheduling conflicts with his upcoming Wolverine sequel. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) is directing the film from a screenplay by San Andreas scribe Allan Loeb, who apparently sold his script for a massive $2.5 million.
PalmStar Media, Likely Story, Smith’s production company Overbrook Entertainment and Anonymous Content, will co-produce the film.
Collateral Beauty revolves around “a New York advertising executive who experiences a deep personal tragedy. His colleagues devise an unconventional means of breaking him out of his depression, which works, but not in a way that anyone imagined.”
Rooney Mara co-stars.
