You’ve read that headline correctly. It looks like Peter Jackson just can’t let it lie. Yes, extended versions of The Hobbit movies are heading to cinemas later this year.
With the release of the final ‘extended’ version hitting DVD, Blu-Ray and VOD channels in November – that’s The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies – all three will also hit U.S. cinemas in their extended form in October. We’re hearing that they will screen over separate nights starting October 5th, though it is not know if UK fans will get the same.
The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies extended version is clocking in at 174 minutes, a full half an hour longer than the theatrical cut, which was, quite frankly, long enough. Add that to the 182 minutes for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and 186 minutes for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, and you’ve got a nine-hour opus.
So, who’s going to be in line this October then? Thoughts?
