They’re making a Pez movie, based on the sweets. Yes, really.

Pez movie on the way

After the news that a film based on those Emoji ‘things’ was in the works from the guys over at Sony, it has now been revealed that Envision Media Arts are planning a Pez  movie. Remember Pez, the sweeties with the flippy top with a different character on the end that dispensed said oblong-shaped candy through its mouth? Yep.

Cameron Fay (Brother In Laws) has been hired for the unenviable task of crafting a screenplay around the property.

There’s no understanding if the film will be live-action or animated, but we’re guessing the latter.

Here’s what Envision Media Arts co-founder Lee Nelson had to say:

Pez candy is beloved by children and adults alike. With Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many.

EMA are an L.A. based company which have previously brought us rom-dram Celeste and Jesse Forever, which I kinda liked, as well as Karl Urban viking film Pathfinder and the upcoming Eddie Murphy movie Henry Joseph Church.

I’ve not really got a lot more to say really, other than that I really am not bothered by any kind of movie based on anything to do with Pez. At all. Are you? The only way I could be interested if the producers somehow got rights to the many characters that have adorned the tops of these candy sticks over the years, and use them in a way like The Lego Movie, which has to be the bar they’re aiming for. That means the likes of Kermit The Frog, Mickey Mouse, Darth Vader, The Smurfs, The Simpsons etc. Sounds like a licensing nightmare.
