We kind of reported this a little while ago, but now it is confirmed. Frank Grillo will reprise his role of Sergeant in The Purge 3, so reports Variety. Grillo will star in the third film in the series, which was created by James DeMonaco, who will also return to write and direct.
The series revolves around a future where, once a year, crime is legal for a twelve-hour period. Grillo plays the role of Sergeant, an officer who uses The Purge to seek revenge, but turns hero after discovering a group of people without shelter during the horrifying annual event.
The Purge 3 is set for a July 1st, 2016 bow with Jason Blum returning to produce through his Blumhouse banner.
The original movie made just under $90 million for Universal from a reported $3 million budget.
Grillo also revealed to THN a little while ago that he has signed on for five Marvel movies. The talented actor famously plays the role of Crossbones, and featured in the superb Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and will also appear in next year’s Captain America: Civil War as the same character.
Grillo is also attached to the planned American remake of The Raid, based on Gareth Evans‘ superb Indonesian original.
Busy boy.
