A massive, character defining scene featuring Sean Harris’s villain was cut from the final version of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, according to a new interview with the film’s director. Harris played the hugely convincing Solomon Lane in the blockbuster, which has had some pretty strong reviews across the board.
In an interview with Deadline, writer/ director Christopher McQuarrie revealed that a pretty decent sequence featuring Lane was cut from the finished movie.
[quote_center]My one regret is there is one real showcase scene with Sean and it didn’t make it into the finished film. Ironically, it was the scene that enticed Sean to do the movie in the first place. For a lot of reasons we ended up cutting it from the film. To his credit, Sean saw the finished film and was very understanding of it. Sean is a real pro, someone who came in with an apprehension of what kind of movie it was, the tone, and what the film was asking him to do. He tackled the role despite it being more or less against his religion.[/quote_center]
Harris has carved himself a pretty decent career following superb turns in The Borgias, Harry Brown and the Southcliffe TV series, amongst many others. He’s also excellent in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, which is now playing worlwide.
