Star Wars coming to Netflix? Rumours are circuling this morning that Lucasfilm may be planning to bring their huge franchise to the online streaming service.
Sources are suggesting that a Star Wars TV show, or indeed shows, are heading to streaming service Netflix in the near future. We’re hearing that Disney owned Lucasfilm is looking at Netflix rather than its own ABC network following the huge success of this year’s Daredevil for Marvel.
SpoilerTV has the update.
Because of the extreme success of Daredevil, Netflix is working with Disney on the cheap and more than happy to continue their relationship. For Lucasfilm this makes a lot of sense, as they want to keep the cinematic feel of the movies going with the TV shows. Netflix allows for such a presentation much better than network television, while also giving them a chance to explore stories and characters which otherwise might not be a good fit somewhere else.
So we’re guessing that the planned shows are live-action, but we cannot find any more information anywhere on this, but it is being reported by multiple sources, so there is probably some truth to these rumours.
Disney owned Marvel also have deals in place for future series based on their Jessica Jones and Luke Cage properties.
We’ll keep you updated.
