LEGO’s ‘Ant-Man Final Battle’ Set Review

With every major film release in recent years, LEGO have found their clever way to produce some rather clever tie-ins which recently have included the likes of Avengers: Age of Ultron and their stunningly impressive Jurassic World sets – that we reviewed here. Next up in the continuing Superheroes range is some love for Marvel’s Ant-Man and while the film is winning fans for it’s lighter nature, does their LEGO set follow suit?

20150714_172026We took a look at the Ant-Man Final Battle set, which retails at a bargain £19.99 for the smart selection you get, and compared to their more recent sets it doesn’t exactly kick in with the ‘wow’ factor but your giant, sorry normal size, flying ant is a clever bit of kit.

Included is the all-important Ant-Man, alongside an extra Hank Pym and of course Yellowjacket – the latter being slightly disappointing but we’ll come to that. Positives first with the definite centerpiece being the flying ant that has huge wings, which are nicely crafted.

The build itself is an easy one as they aim for that 6-12 years old market and it’s not a set you’ll be spending too much time putting together. There’s also a ‘super-jump’ included that will help out hero fly as high as you need him to go, alongside some fun ‘giant’ LEGO bricks that also become catapults for tiny ant warriors. I’ve always wanted to say those three words ‘tiny ant warriors’…20150714_171946Yellowjacket has a nice setup as an individual piece but I found him unusually top-heavy with most weapon/things on the back and top. Generally speaking there should be an easy way to balance it all out but he probably won’t stand unless you remove a few bits or keep the piece in a specific stance. But, saying that, this set is all about value and for the price you’re paying you’ll be putting together an impressive little set that will surely keep anyone of any age occupied… especially with the giant flying ant to get drawn in by!
